TDPF-03 Fully Automatic Vertical Sponge Cutter Cuts 3000x2200x1250 mm Foam Blocks

TDPF-03 Fully Automatic Vertical Sponge Cutter with Digital Thickness Setting

Product Introduction

The TDPF-03 is a fully automatic vertical sponge cutter built for factories that need to convert whole foam blocks into square or rectangular blanks quickly, accurately and without skilled labour. Operators enter the target length and width on the touch screen, and the machine completes continuous cutting in a single run — no CAD drawing, no hand marking and no manual pushing of the block through the blade.

Its working envelope is sized for industrial block production: a 7000×2300 mm table, a maximum cutting size of 3000×2200×1250 mm, and a cutting speed range of 0–50 m/min. Length and width tolerance both reach ±0.5 mm, which is tight enough for blanks that go straight into lamination, upholstery or packaging assembly without a trimming step.

The machine handles the soft foam materials that make up most of the market — PU sponge, EVA, PE and EPE pearl cotton — and cuts them into consistent rectangular blocks rather than rough slices. That makes it suitable both for furniture and mattress factories preparing cushion cores, and for packaging plants producing shockproof inserts in standard sizes.

Compared with manual vertical cutting or a CNC contour cutter, the TDPF-03 is deliberately simple. There is no drawing file to prepare and no programming skill required: the operator types two numbers and starts the cycle. The result is a short training period, stable output across shifts and far less dependence on an experienced cutter.

Machine Structure and Working Principle

The machine combines a long feed table, a vertical band knife cutting head, a digital control system and a driven material feed. Each part supports the same goal: converting a full block into dimensioned blanks with repeatable length and width.

  • 7000×2300 mm table: the long table supports the block through the full cut, so large blocks do not need to be re-supported halfway and the finished blank comes off straight.
  • Vertical band knife head: performs the vertical cut through the full 1250 mm block height, producing a flat face and square corner.
  • Touch screen control: the operator inputs target length and width; the control system calculates the cutting sequence and runs it automatically.
  • Digital thickness setting: dimensions are set electronically rather than by mechanical stops, so changing product size takes seconds instead of re-setting fixtures.
  • Continuous feed: the machine completes non-stop cutting in one run, which is why output is significantly higher than a manual vertical cutter of the same table size.
  • Servo-driven movement: feed and cutting motion are controlled electronically for smooth acceleration and consistent dimensions across the batch.

How a Cutting Cycle Works

  1. Load the block: the PU, EVA, PE or EPE block is placed on the 7000×2300 mm table against the reference edge.
  2. Enter dimensions: the target length and width are typed on the touch screen; no CAD file or drawing is needed.
  3. Start the cycle: the machine positions the block and begins the vertical cut automatically.
  4. Continuous cutting: the band knife runs through the block while the feed advances, producing rectangular blanks one after another without stopping between pieces.
  5. Collect the blanks: finished pieces are removed from the outfeed side and stacked for the next process.
  6. Change size: for a different product, new length and width values are entered on the screen; the machine is ready without mechanical adjustment.

Key Selling Points

  • Fully automatic operation: one run completes continuous cutting, so output no longer depends on how fast an operator can push and guide the block.
  • Digital dimension setting: length and width are entered on the touch screen; no mechanical stops to adjust and no CAD drawing to prepare.
  • ±0.5 mm tolerance on both length and width: consistent blanks that fit directly into lamination, upholstery and packaging assembly.
  • Large 7000×2300 mm table: supports 3000×2200×1250 mm blocks through the whole cut without re-positioning.
  • Multi-material compatibility: PU sponge, EVA, PE and EPE pearl cotton on the same machine.
  • 0–50 m/min cutting speed: speed can be matched to foam density, faster for soft EPE and slower for dense PU or tall blocks.
  • Low training threshold: a new operator can produce saleable blanks after a short introduction, which reduces dependence on skilled cutters.

Digital Thickness Setting and Dimensional Accuracy

On a manual vertical cutter, the operator sets the width with a mechanical fence and checks the result with a tape measure. Small errors repeat on every piece, and the fence drifts as the machine vibrates. The TDPF-03 removes that variable: length and width are entered digitally, the control system positions the cut, and both dimensions hold ±0.5 mm through the batch.

That tolerance matters most in three places. In furniture, a cushion core that is 1 mm oversize will not fit the cover cleanly. In packaging, inserts that vary in width either fall out of the carton or need to be forced in, which slows the packing line. In lamination, uneven blanks create pressure differences that show as glue lines after pressing. Holding ±0.5 mm on both length and width removes those downstream adjustments.

Accuracy still depends on how the block is loaded. The block must sit flat on the table and against the reference edge, and the base must be square. Blocks with a damaged or sloped bottom will reproduce that slope in the finished blank regardless of the digital setting.

Material Compatibility

The machine is designed for soft foam materials used across furniture, packaging and footwear:

  • PU sponge: flexible polyurethane foam in densities used for cushioning, mattress layers and upholstery.
  • EVA: closed-cell foam for shoe components, luggage lining and sports mats.
  • PE: polyethylene foam for protective packaging and construction joint filler.
  • EPE pearl cotton: low-density packaging foam for electronics and fragile goods.

Density affects cutting speed more than any other factor. Low-density EPE can run at the higher end of the 0–50 m/min range, while dense PU or tall blocks near the 1250 mm height limit cut more cleanly at reduced speed.

Primary Applications

  • Furniture industry: vertical cutting of PU sponge blocks for sofa cushions, armrests and mattress padding.
  • Mattress production: rectangular cores and support layers cut to fixed length and width.
  • Packaging industry: EPE and PE rectangular blocks for shockproof inserts and carton dividers.
  • Shoe and luggage: EVA foam blanks for insoles, lining and luggage shells.
  • Composite material processing: pre-cutting foam blanks for subsequent laminating, slicing and profiling.
  • Construction and insulation: PE foam blocks cut to size for joint filler and acoustic separation.

Safety and Operation

The cutting action is fully automatic, so the operator does not hold or push the block while the band knife is moving. Dimensions are entered on the touch screen before the cycle starts, and the machine runs the cut without manual intervention. That separation between setting and cutting is the main safety advantage over a manual vertical cutter.

Operators should follow three simple rules: never reach into the cutting zone while the machine is running, keep the table surface free of off-cuts that could tilt the block, and check the band knife tension at the start of each shift. Because dimension setting is digital, there is no fence to re-check after a size change — the screen value is the setting.

Installation, Training and Maintenance

The TDPF-03 requires a level concrete floor and clearance around the 7000×6000×2500 mm footprint for loading blocks and removing blanks. A layout drawing, wiring diagram and English operation manual are supplied with the machine. Commissioning support is provided remotely, and on-site installation with operator training can be arranged on request.

Routine maintenance covers four items: band knife tension and tracking at the start of each shift, daily cleaning of foam dust from the table and guide surfaces, weekly lubrication of moving parts, and a monthly check of the blade for dullness or damage. Spare band knives and guide components can be shipped with the machine so wear parts are replaced without waiting for an import delivery.

Quality Control, Packaging and Shipping

Every machine is assembled, aligned and run before shipment. The cutting dimensions are checked on sample foam of each material type, and the control system is tested through a full size-change sequence to confirm that the digital settings match the finished blank. Electrical configuration is CE compliant for European and other export markets.

The main frame is shipped with rust-proof treatment and protective film, while the touch screen, control cabinet and small spare parts are packed in wooden cases. The machine is secured for container transport. Standard delivery is 45 working days after the down payment is confirmed, shipped from Qingdao port. Payment terms are T/T or L/C, minimum order quantity is one set, and supply ability is three sets per season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can it cut curved shapes or profiled parts?

A: No. The TDPF-03 produces square and rectangular blanks. Curved or profiled parts need a CNC contour cutting machine.

Q: Do my workers need drawing or programming skills?

A: No. Length and width are typed on the touch screen and the cycle runs automatically; no CAD file, drawing or programming is required.

Q: How long does a size change take?

A: Seconds. New dimensions are entered on the screen — there are no mechanical stops or fixtures to re-set, which is where most time is lost on a manual cutter.

Q: Will the dimensions drift over a long batch?

A: Not from the setting side: dimensions are held electronically, so there is no fence to slip. Drift usually comes from the block shifting on the table, so keep the table free of off-cuts and load the block flat against the reference edge.

Q: Can it handle very soft EPE without squashing it?

A: Yes, at reduced speed. Soft, low-density foam compresses under the blade, so run slower and check the first blank of each block before going to full speed.

Q: What if my block is larger than 3000×2200×1250 mm?

A: It cannot be processed in one pass. Either specify a larger table configuration or pre-cut the block on a horizontal splitting machine.

Q: Can the finished blanks feed directly into a packing line?

A: Blanks come off the outfeed side stacked and square, which suits manual or semi-automatic packing. The discharge height and direction can be matched to a conveyor on request.

Q: What happens if the bottom of the block is uneven?

A: The blank inherits that unevenness. Square the base on a horizontal cutter first if the block bottom is sloped or damaged.

Q: How many people are needed?

A: One operator can load the block, set dimensions and collect blanks; the cutting cycle itself is automatic and does not need supervision.

Q: What is required on site before installation?

A: A level concrete floor that can carry 4000 kg, a 7 kW supply matched to your voltage and frequency, and clearance around the 7000×6000×2500 mm footprint for loading blocks and removing blanks.
