The C617 is a high-end lightweight horizontal foam slicing and winding machine built for continuous production of thin PU foam sheets. It slices infinite-length foam into sheets from 0.5 mm to 70 mm, at cutting speeds up to 120 m/min, with ±0.06 mm tolerance in the 0.5–3 mm range. The machine is designed for sponge lamination and composite processing, where a continuous sheet — not a stack of short pieces — is what the next line actually needs.
Its working width covers 1500–2200 mm and its cutting height reaches 1250 mm, so it handles the block sizes used in mattress, furniture and packaging production without re-cutting. Servo motor control keeps the feed and gantry movement stable, and the rail track is made of 71 manganese high-iron guide rail with a precision-machined surface, which is what allows the gantry to travel smoothly at high speed without leaving marks on the sheet.
What separates the C617 from a standard horizontal slicer is the automation package. It has an automatic top knife, an automatic blade grinding system, automatic panel guidance pushing and an automatically angle-adjustable gantry for thickness regulation. In practice, that means the machine can run continuously without an operator stopping it to adjust the blade or reset the thickness, which is exactly the requirement in a lamination plant running three shifts.
The result is a machine positioned between a basic slicer and a full CNC line: it delivers the precision and the continuous output of a high-end machine, but keeps the structure lightweight and the operation simple enough for a production team to run and maintain.

The C617 is organised around a moving gantry that travels on a long rail track, a servo drive system, and a set of automatic knife-maintenance functions. Each group contributes to one outcome: a continuous sheet with uniform thickness.

On a horizontal slicer, thickness is controlled by the relative angle and position of the blade to the foam surface. The C617 adjusts the gantry angle automatically for the selected thickness, which removes the manual trial-and-error that normally follows a size change. In the 0.5–3 mm range the machine holds ±0.06 mm, a tolerance that matters because thin sheets are usually laminated: a variation of a tenth of a millimetre shows up as a pressure difference, then as a visible glue line or bubble after pressing.
Thickness stability also depends on two mechanical details. The first is the rail: a precision-machined 71 manganese high-iron track keeps the gantry on a straight path, so the blade does not rise or fall along the cut. The second is blade condition: the automatic grinding system maintains the cutting edge during production, so the blade does not become dull mid-run and start compressing the foam instead of cutting it.
Foam density still affects the practical result. Soft, low-density PU compresses under the blade and needs a slower feed and a sharper edge; dense foam allows higher speed. The first sheet after a thickness change should always be measured, and the setting fine-tuned before the line runs at full speed.

The C617 is normally the first machine in a lamination line rather than a standalone unit. The block is loaded on the track bed, the sheet comes off continuously, and the next machine — a laminator, winder or cutting line — takes it directly. Because the gantry travels along the rail rather than pushing the block through a fixed head, the line layout can be long and straight, which suits factories with an existing lamination tunnel.
For best results, the block should be square and its base flat. A block with a sloped or damaged bottom will reproduce that slope in the sheet no matter how precisely the gantry is set. The panel guidance pusher should be adjusted to the block width at the start of each run, and the rail track should be kept clean — foam dust on the rail is the most common cause of a sudden thickness drift.

The machine requires a level concrete floor with a straight run for the rail track and clearance around the 5000×2500×2600 mm main unit for loading blocks and removing sheets. A layout drawing, wiring diagram and English operation manual are supplied. Commissioning support is provided remotely, and on-site installation with operator training can be arranged on request.
Routine maintenance covers four items: cleaning the rail track and gantry wheels daily, checking blade condition and the automatic grinding system at the start of each shift, lubricating the rail and moving parts weekly, and inspecting the panel guidance pusher monthly. A spare blade and a set of rail wipers can be shipped with the machine so wear parts are replaced without waiting for an import delivery.

Every machine is assembled, aligned and run before shipment. The rail track is checked for straightness, the gantry angle adjustment is tested through the full thickness range, and a sample foam block is sliced to confirm thickness and surface quality. Electrical configuration is CE compliant for European and other export markets.
The main unit is shipped with rust-proof treatment and protective film, while the control cabinet, servo components and small spare parts are packed in wooden cases. The rail sections are protected separately for container transport. Standard delivery is 45 working days after the down payment is confirmed, shipped from Qingdao port. Payment terms are T/T or L/C, minimum order quantity is one set, and supply ability is three sets per season.

Q: Does this machine slice irregular or contoured foam shapes?
A: No. The C617 produces flat continuous sheets, not contoured profiles. For curved or 3D shapes a CNC contour cutting machine is the correct choice. Blocks should be square with a flat base before slicing.
Q: What happens if the bottom of my block is not flat?
A: The gantry follows the rail, not the block surface, so a sloped or damaged base is reproduced in the sheet. If the base is uneven, square the block on a vertical cutter first.
Q: How do you keep thickness stable over a long production run?
A: Three things do the work: the gantry angle adjusts automatically to the set thickness, the blade grinds itself during production, and the rail track is kept clean. Measure the first sheet after each thickness change and fine-tune before running at full speed.
Q: Can it cut very soft or low-density foam without compressing it?
A: Yes, but speed matters. Soft foam compresses under the blade, so run at the lower end of the speed range, keep the blade sharp, and check the first sheet of each new block before going to production speed.
Q: Can the C617 run in line with a laminator or a winder?
A: Yes. It is designed as the first machine in a lamination line: the sheet leaves continuously and feeds straight into the next unit. The rail needs a straight run, so confirm floor space and line direction before ordering.
Q: What if my foam block is wider than 2200 mm?
A: The maximum cutting width is 2200 mm, so a wider block cannot be processed in one pass. Either specify a wider machine configuration or split the block on a vertical cutter first.
Q: Can it cut EVA, PE and EPE as well as PU foam?
A: Yes for soft foams of similar hardness. Dense or rebonded foam cuts more cleanly at reduced speed and needs more frequent blade checks. Send us a sample and we will confirm the setting for your material.
Tell us your foam type, block width and height, target sheet thickness and lamination line speed. We will confirm the rail length, gantry configuration, blade system and delivery schedule, and can arrange a slicing test on your material at our Qingdao plant or by video.
