The TDP-70 is a carousel horizontal cutter that slices several PU foam blocks in one continuous pass. The rotary table runs on frequency-converter drive at 0–3.5 r/min, the cutting thickness is set on a PLC touch screen from 2 to 150 mm, and a 10000 mm band knife cuts without retracting between blocks. A vacuum suction system holds the foam down so each slice keeps the same thickness. Cutting size is 2000*3000 mm, cutting height is 1250 mm, motor power is 22 kW, machine weight is 4000 kg, and the overall size is 8000*7000*2400 mm.
The design target is throughput on repeat work. A plant that slices the same foam grade into the same thickness all day does not want the blade to leave the block after every sheet. The TDP-70 keeps the knife in the cut and the table turning, which is where the cycle-time gain comes from.
The band knife stays in the block while the table turns, so several blocks are sliced in one batch without a knife return stroke.
Suction holds each block flat during the pass, which keeps slice thickness uniform across the block face.
Thickness is entered on the touch screen; the frequency-converter table drive holds the set speed.
Because the knife does not retract, the non-cutting time between blocks is short. That is the difference between a machine that cuts a block and a machine that runs a slicing shift.
Foam is elastic. As a band knife passes, the material ahead of the edge compresses and the material behind it springs back. If the block is not held, the sheet lifts slightly and the next slice starts from a different height. Vacuum suction removes that movement by pulling the block onto the table surface for the full pass.
Three things keep the vacuum effective:
Check the first slice of each batch. If the front edge is thicker than the rear edge, the block is lifting and the vacuum needs attention.
A 10000 mm band knife gives a longer cutting edge between sharpenings and a straighter line through a tall block. The length also lets the knife run at a lower stress per unit of edge, which helps hold a smooth cut face in flexible foam.
Knife care is simple but not optional. Check the edge each shift, keep the guide clear of foam dust, and follow the sharpening interval for the foam grade. A dull band knife compresses the foam before it cuts, and the slice comes out with a rounded edge.
The cutting area is 2000*3000 mm and the maximum cutting height is 1250 mm. A 1250 mm block sliced at 50 mm yields 25 sheets; the same block at 20 mm yields about 62 sheets before kerf; at 2 mm the count runs into the hundreds. Plan the batch by thickness so the knife stays in one setting for as long as possible.
Keep the load inside the cutting area and balanced on the table. A block that overhangs the edge can shift when the knife enters, and the vacuum will not recover the position during the pass.

| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Thickness varies across the sheet | Vacuum leak or blocked table holes | Clean the table, check the seal and filter |
| Sheet lifts at the front edge | Weak vacuum or a dull knife | Service the vacuum, sharpen the band knife |
| Torn cut face | Feed too fast for the foam grade | Reduce table speed, check the knife edge |
| Wavy sheet | Block not square to the knife line | Trim the block before the batch |
| Knife wanders in the cut | Guide wear or low band tension | Check guides and tension, replace worn parts |
Many faults show up on the first sheet of a batch. Inspect that sheet before running the rest of the block, and the correction costs one slice instead of a shift.
A slicing batch is consistent when the foam, the thickness setting and the knife condition stay the same. Changing foam grade in the middle of a batch changes the compression under the knife, and the thickness setting that worked for one grade may not suit the next.
Keep one log per batch: foam grade and density, block count, thickness setting, table speed, knife hours and the thickness check result. When a customer reports a thin sheet, the log shows if the cause was the block, the setting or the knife.
Handle 1250 mm blocks with a lift or a crane, not by tipping them onto the table. A block that is dropped can lose its square face, and the first slices will run wavy until it is trimmed.
Workshop conditions also affect the cut. Flexible foam stiffens in a cold room and softens in a warm one, so a thickness setting made in the morning may behave differently after the hall warms up. Keep the cutting area at a stable temperature and note any change in the batch log.
Output is set by the number of passes and the handling between them. Continuous cutting removes the knife return, so the operator's time goes to loading and unloading. Keep a stack of blocks beside the table and a clear route for finished sheets.
Check thickness with a gauge at the front edge, the middle and the rear edge of the sheet. A difference across the sheet points to vacuum loss or a block that is not square. A difference between sheets points to table speed or knife condition.
Also check the cut face. A smooth face with closed cells is normal for a sharp knife; a torn face with pulled granules means the knife is dull or the feed is too fast for the foam grade.
The machine occupies 8000*7000*2400 mm and weighs 4000 kg. It needs a level floor, clear space around the table for block handling, and a power supply for the 22 kW motor. Leave access to the band knife guides for sharpening and replacement.
Install the frame and level it, mount the rotary table, fit the band knife and guides, connect the vacuum system and power, then run an empty rotation and a trial block. Commissioning ends with a thickness check at 2 mm, 20 mm and 100 mm.
| Interval | Task |
|---|---|
| Each shift | Check knife edge, vacuum suction and table surface |
| Weekly | Clean the vacuum filter, check knife guides and table drive |
| Monthly | Inspect band knife tension, wheel alignment and electrical cabinet |
| As worn | Replace the band knife, table seal and vacuum filter |
Record the batch thickness, block count, sheet count and any thickness deviation. That log shows when a knife change or a vacuum service is due, instead of waiting for a rejected order.
The machine ships with the table, band knife station and frame braced separately. Packaging is confirmed per order because the method depends on the destination port and unloading equipment. Delivery time is 45 working days after downpayment, payment is by L/C or T/T, and price is quoted on inquiry. A spare band knife can be shipped with the machine on request, so the first blade change does not wait for a parts order.
Watch the machine: multiple PU blocks on the vacuum table, sliced continuously by the band knife as the table rotates.
Tell us the block size, the thickness range and the output you need per shift. Our engineers will confirm the vacuum configuration, band knife specification and commissioning plan for your plant.
